Kitsap National Guard Family Fund

A Partnership of the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce and Kitsap Community Resources (KCR) Nearly 300 National Guardsmen from Kitsap County have been called up for combat service in Iraq. They are typically older, many with teenagers, and are leaving their famil and better-paying civillian jobs at home. The result is tremendous stress and financial pressures on the families. Debt and other family issues are common. The families often can feel isolated as they face many of these issues for the first time. And, unlike in the other services, there are few organized family support services available for National Guard Families. The Kitsap National Guard Family Fund has been created to address this issue and show our support for these families. Just An Online Minute... Political Blogs

Image
Monday, April 18, 2005 by Tobi Elkin Hello, Two out of five online U.S. consumers have read a political blog and more than a quarter read them once a month or more, according to a new survey by Harris Interactive. There are more adults reading the blogs of political pundits and prognosticators than there are people posting comments on them. The Harris survey, conducted in March, found that of 2,630 online adults, less than one in 10 had ever posted a comment to a political blog. Harris found that 15 percent of those surveyed had posted comments. Not surprisingly the survey found that people with a college or postgraduate degree were far more likely to have read a political blog than those with less education.
